Why is Country Music Fun to Produce and Mix?

Over the course of my career in music production, I have had the opportunity to work with a lot of great artists and work with a lot of exciting musical genres or styles. I have produced and mixed rock, metal, reggae, Christian/gospel, pop, and country. I love all of the styles, but I have to say that country music is great fun for a producer or a mixing engineer. This is because of the diverse instrumentation that you often find in this genre of music. Unlike some other styles, country allows for many different and interesting instruments. For example, a country song may include (in addition to drums, guitar, bass, keyboard) steel guitar, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, harmonica, and others. This makes for a very stimulating palate of sounds and textures.

Below is a video that plays a sample of several country songs that I have worked on over the years. These tracks represent songs that I mixed, and produced or co-produced. Also, one of the offerings that I bring to the table as a producer is the ability to play multiple instruments. For example, I played the role of studio musician on most of the songs as well as co-wrote the second track.

If you like what you hear, I invite you to contact me, and we can talk about your music.
